St. Valentine's Day Massacre

What a day. I called mom. Wished her a happy v-day. Today I am being reminded that somewhere, someway, somehow I will meet "the one."

But today something stranged happened. Many of my married friends are rushing around trying to find some last minute V-Day present. You know, that little something that means and says so much to someone who means the world to them. And they have an hour lunch break to find it. At Wal Mart. Then I tell them that I called my mom and that phone call in itself satisfied all of my V-Day obligations. And the jealousy they had towards me was palpable.

What a lovely echo of God's grace. On a day that has been a sore spot for singleness in the past, God turned the tables on me. Now people envy me on Valentine's Day. So, today as I listen to B.B. King sing "Nobody loves me but my mama...and she could be jivin' too..." I am not depressed, discouraged or down. Instead, God has lifted me again.

And if you have never read The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning...well, what the heck are you WAITING FOR??? It is the book Donald Miller wished he had written, in my opinion. Miller is a lightweight version of Manning. He is Ragamuffin without the insight, wisdom, experience and grace. For Manning there is so much more right with Christ than there is wrong with the church. Praise God for Brennan Manning and his writings.

And praise God that for once I am the envy of others on Valentine's Day. Word.

Flo was the best grandma ever. She was tough, honest, crusty, loving and wonderful. I miss her terribly.
